Maharashtra Government announces a first-time African wildlife safari in Nagpur. The African Safari project will take place at the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo, which is one of the largest captive zoo safaris in India.

In an experiment, wildlife from the world's second-largest continent has been included, announced Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. INR 100 crore will be spent on the project, which is announced in the budget for 2022-2023.

A 60-crore leopard safari is also planned for a 90-hectare forest area in Pune. In 171 hectare area, there is planning to build a tiger safari and wildlife salvage center in the Chandrapur district. 

The government is also taking initiation to invest INR 286 crores to begin a Maharashtra Gene Bank Project within five years. The main goal behind this action is to preserve the biodiversity in the state.
